Colectivo Coffee – new kid has a rooftop

Right in the caffeine-epicenter of Hannam-dong, steps from one of our all-time favorites Peer Coffee, a new kid has arrived: Colectivo.

The place is fairly gigantic, especially for this neighborhood. It stretches over all 4 floors of a small previously residential building and includes a really nice rooftop, too.

The team is friendly and guided me to pick the Indonesian beans they had available, ice pour-over seemed like the right move given the early arrival of Summer.

Preparation was all on point: dripper and filter rinsed, scale and timer in check at all times.

Indonesian coffees have never truly hit me, as high-altitude, especially African, washed beans bring a more exciting taste profile. Regardless, it was a decent cup and the scone on the side was a nice addition. But the true winner is the space these guys have put together, especially the sun-spoiled roof top with a nice view of the area.

We will come back for sure, and I am sure it will get tough to get a seat here very soon.
